Abstract
  • A sustainable building becomes more important worldwide include religious institutions such as mosques. Implementation of sustainable concept on mosque created a unique type of building in which is rarely found in Malaysia. To promote sustainable on mosque throughout the country require not only the method on how to implement it but require the proper information on how to manage the facilities in the sustainable mosque. The mosque facilities management realised the importance of managing their facilities efficiently in ways that consider the environment, society, and the economy. However, there are several issues that have been identify are lacking in multiple aspects such as lack of staff, fund allocation, lack of knowledge and expertise, and lack of senior management to handle the mosque. Therefore, this study aims to explore and analyze the key challenges and barriers associated with the effective implementation of facilities management practices in sustainable mosques. The objectives of this study is to identify the challenges of implementation facilities management in sustainable mosque. This study used a quantitative method of data collection and questionnaire distribution. The data collected from the respondents are the worshippers, visitors, mosque’s committee, and facilities management team in the mosque. The findings show the top three main elements of the challenges of facilities management in sustainable mosque are lack of knowledge, lack of funding and the quality of facilities after maintenance work is reduce drastically. Thus, it is hoped that this study will improve the facilities management in managing sustainable mosque.
