Abstract
  • The construction sector continues to report significant numbers of accidents, injuries, and fatalities, particularly involving foreign workers who constitute a substantial segment of the workforce. Despite ongoing initiatives aimed at improving construction safety training, foreign workers' accident rates remain alarmingly high, primarily due to inadequate communication of safety and health information compounded by cultural and linguistic barriers. This study applies Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) to assess the effectiveness of various safety communication strategies for foreign workers in the Malaysian construction industry. Findings emphasize that management commitment, multilingual safety materials, and proactive safety supervision significantly enhance foreign workers' comprehension and adherence to safety practices. Recommendations derived from IPA suggest prioritizing resource allocation to improve the effectiveness of critical safety communication practices.
