Abstract
  • This study explored the impact of digital technologies, relational capability, and organizational agility on the financial performance of Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research found that while relational capability and organizational agility directly boosted financial performance, digital technologies surprisingly showed no significant effect. The finding can be attributed to factors such as low adoption rates, lack of digital readiness, financial constraints, and skill gaps among SMEs. The findings emphasize that technology alone is not enough; other factors like relational capabilities and agility play a crucial role in navigating crises. Additionally, organizational agility did not mediate the relationship between relational capability and firm performance. These insights highlight the need for SMEs to prioritize developing relational capabilities and agility to thrive in challenging environments.
