Exploring the multidimensional interactions of soft sculpture in urban spaces

Abstract
  • This study explores the multifaceted relationship between soft sculpture, an emerging art form, and urban spaces. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, this paper examines case studies, conducts literature reviews, and performs site visits to uncover how soft sculptures integrate into and enhance urban environments. The research identifies that the inherent flexibility of soft sculpture not only augments the visual landscape but also elevates the aesthetic appeal of urban spaces. From a social perspective, soft sculptures serve as pivotal public art mediums that foster community unity and support the democratization and diversification of public areas. Culturally, these sculptures act as vessels for community memory and local identity, enhancing cultural transmission and values. Psychologically, the tactile and immersive nature of soft sculpture strengthens emotional bonds with urban settings, contributing to a sense of well-being. The findings suggest that urban planners, artists, and scholars should encourage community involvement in soft sculpture initiatives, ensure environmental sustainability, and meld global influences with local traits in sculpture creation. The interaction between soft sculpture and urban space opens up new ways for urban aesthetics, humanisation and sustainable development, and promotes urban harmony and cultural innovation, which is of great significance.
