Analysis of infectious disease control for flexible indoor spatial system in public hospitals in China

Abstract
  • To effectively avoid the risk of indoor infection among resident patients during an epidemic, studies recommend for hospital management to possess basic information on infectious diseases such as how they are spread, who are susceptible and so on. To understand the situation better, this study analyzes the background on infectious diseases, the infectious conditions and the prevalent prevention measures to reduce the rate of transmission. Later, this study evaluates potential recommendations on how these infectious diseases information could support the interior spatial system to protect resident patients in public hospitals in China. The results lead to proposing a conceptual framework for improving indoor spatial systems for infection control through the understanding of infectious diseases. The proposed conceptual framework recommends for interior architects to find common patterns amongst various infectious diseases and use them as guide in improving in-patient living environment and strengthening hospital management strategies. This study recommends further research to evaluate the various factors of infectious diseases in order to update new indoor spatial systems. The results document infectious diseases analysis and are expected to support measures to prevent infection for patients in Chinese public hospitals during their hospitalization. The results are significant because the study contributes to the prevention of common types of infections through uniform and flexible indoor space systems.
