Abstract
  • Kertas ini adalah sebahagian daripada hasil penyelidikan “kesejahteraan kewangan dalam kalangan pekerja sektor awam di Malaysia 2008. Kertas ini bertujuan mengenalpasti pola pembuatan keputusan kewangan antara suami dan isteri berbangsa Melayu dalam keluarga dwi-pendapatan. Pembuatan keputusan kewangan dalam kajian ini merujuk kepada autoriti individu terhadap sesuatu pembuatan keputusan kewangan. Sejumlah 391 orang responden dilibatkan dalam analisis ini. Analisis diskriptif menggunakan kekerapan, peratus, purata dan sisihan piawai digunakan dalam perbincangan hasil kajian. Hasil utama kajian menunjukkan terdapat tiga pola utama pembuatan keputusan kewangan, iaitu keputusan kewangan oleh suami, keputusan kewangan oleh isteri, dan keputusan kewangan oleh suami-isteri. Pembuatan keputusan kewangan oleh suami didapati melibatkan perbelanjaan yang besar dan komitmen tinggi. Pembuatan keputusan oleh isteri pula lebih menjurus kepada perbelanjaan keperluan keluarga. Manakala pembuatan keputusan oleh suami-isteri adalah lebih cenderung kepada keputusan berkaitan dengan keperluan anak-anak. Ternyata suami masih mempunyai autoriti yang lebih berbanding isteri dalam pembuatan keputusan kewangan walaupun kedua- duanya mempunyai pendapatan dan menyumbang pendapatan dalam keluarga.
