The Energy-Growth-Trade Nexus In Malaysia: Does Financial Development Boost Up Energy Consumption?
This study investigates the relationship between energy consumption, trade openness and economic growth by incorporating financial development in case of Malaysia. The concept and methods of cointegration used to establish the relationship among the series for the period 1971 to 2014. The results confirm the existence of cointegration among the variables. In particular, energy consumption, trade openness and financial development were found positively influence economic growth in Malaysia.
