Abstract
Based on the Sino-Russian cultural integration, this review article investigates how the new channel of cross-cultural engagement can be innovated by Tourism Cultural Creative Products (TCCPs), specifically in the context of the potential practice of the emerging technologies — augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), digital business model. Key design challenges in the development of TCCPs which reflect the cultural unique aspects of China and Russia are identified in the paper and the way technology can help to achieve immersive, accessible and interactive experiences for tourists. Then I examine the role that AR and VR can play in offering virtual tours, promoting cultural heritage, and incorporating gamification strategies to engage tourists to foster more meaningful connections to cultural content. The paper also devotes some attention to the rise of creative tourism, owing in part to the trend toward experiential travel, where visitors participate in the act of learning about and engaging with the local culture. In addition, the paper reviews how digital business models, especially mobile app-based services, are transforming the tourism industry into the provision of personalized, data driven experiences. Integrating Sino-Russian cultural elements in TCCPs, the article contends, contributes to cross cultural understanding of TCCPs, and the sustainability and economic potential of tourism. The final recommendation of the review is the need for the research to move to refine digital tools, test their effectiveness in tourism marketing and experience design, and foster global collaboration in the creative industries and tourism sectors.
