Abstract
  • Construction defects are always the key concern of the construction industry. Most of the Government buildings are faced with construction defects such as cracking or workmanship deficiencies. To reduce these disputes, the Government has to take a leading role to enforce current and proposed legislation in handling building defects in the building strata practice code. This paper tabled how statistical analysis equations resulted in the Government's role in managing construction defects. The approach in doing the defects census is by having a quantitative research method through Google Form survey where 86 participants (n=86) have been responded. Seven building defects causal hypotheses have been formulated, and the recent version (v24/v26) of SPSS statistical software has been used to test those hypotheses. The tests were done, including x2 (chi-square's Asymptotic Sig.), X-tab, Mean, Median and St. Deviation equations and Horizontal Bar analysis. The result indicated that it is vital to have the Government part in playing the centralised role in beating building defects efficiently. This way, the construction player will pay greater attention during all aspect of construction periods. Hence the defects can be efficiently being reduced, and better-finished building can be achieved.
