Abstract
  • Horticulture plays a crucial role in supporting food security, rural livelihoods, and agricultural diversification in Indonesia. This study aims to assess the horticultural development potential of Tawangmangu, a highland region in Central Java, through a systematic review of existing literature. Guided by the PRISMA framework, relevant national and international studies were collected, screened, and analysed thematically. The review focused on key factors influencing horticultural development, including agroclimatic conditions, soil characteristics, human resources capacity, tecnological adoption, market dynamics, and government support. The finding indicate that Tawangmangu possesses strong horticultural potential due to its favourable elevation, cool climate, fertile andisol soils, and high community involvement in horticultural activities. However, challenges remain in irrigation infrastructure, technology utilization, distribution efficiency, and farmer capacity. These findings provide insights for sustainable horticultural planning and regional development.
