Abstract
Digital adoption has become a crucial driver for the growth and resilience of rural agro-food enterprises. The integration of technologies like mobile applications, e-commerce platforms, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) enables rural entrepreneurs to optimize their operations, boost productivity, and overcome economic and environmental challenges. These digital tools improve resource management, enhance market access, and streamline financial processes, all of which contribute to the overall efficiency and profitability of rural businesses. Additionally, digital financial services provide expanded access to capital, empowering entrepreneurs to invest in their operations and reduce financial risks. Despite the clear advantages, the path to digitalization remains obstructed by several barriers. Limited infrastructure, including unreliable internet connectivity and poor access to electricity, makes it difficult for rural businesses to fully leverage digital tools. Furthermore, digital illiteracy and the high initial cost of adopting new technologies prevent many entrepreneurs from integrating digital solutions into their operations. These challenges hinder the potential for growth and sustainability in rural agro-food enterprises. To fully capitalize on digital adoption, it is essential to address these barriers through targeted infrastructure development, financial support, and digital literacy programs. By overcoming these obstacles, rural entrepreneurs can better adapt to market fluctuations, improve their productivity, and enhance their long-term resilience. With the right support, digital tools can transform rural agro-food businesses, leading to more sustainable practices, increased profitability, and greater economic stability.
