Abstract
  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Quality of Work Life (QWL) and employee satisfaction (ES) among employees in the SCORE areas in Sarawak. A study was conducted by distributing questionnaires by mail to companies in Miri, Bintulu, Mukah, Sibu and Tanjung Manis. A total of 441 questionnaires were distributed where 156 questionnaires were returned for further analysis, yielding a response rate of 35.4 percent. Data were analysed using factor analysis to determine the factors that affect ES. There were 10 factors that met the criteria and were accepted for further analysis and had significant relationship with ES at p<0.05, namely, supervisory behaviour (0.737), ancillary program (0.722), work environment (0.777), job creativity (0.733), educational programs and recognition (0765), personal development and talent practice (0.679), job requirement (0.651), health benefits and risk free (0.688), hazardous and stress free (0.700), and safety at work (0.667). Further analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression to determine the factors that most influence ES. It was concluded that only three factors that had significantly influenced ES with significant value of p<0.05, namely, personal development and talent practice (p = 0.04), health benefits and risk free (p = 0.022), and hazardous and stress free (p = 0.001). Liner equation for ES is: ES = 1.247 + 0.258 (personal development and talent practice) + 0.343 (health benefits and risk free) + 0.457 (hazardous and stress free).
