Abstract
The maritime industry in Malaysia faces significant safety challenges, with seafarers frequently exposed to hazardous working conditions that can lead to accidents and injuries. Despite the critical importance of safety behaviour in mitigating these risks, there is a lack of comprehensive understanding regarding the factors that influence safety behaviour among Malaysian seafarers. The Impact of safety climate on the safety behaviour of Malaysian seafarers. Identifying the relationships between all these variables is the objective to improve understanding of how the safety climate impacts seafarers' adherence to safety procedures and general safety behaviour. Utilising a cross-sectional survey approach, a quantitative research design was used to effectively gather and analyse data. 92 Malaysian seafarers were given standardised questionnaires to complete in order to collect the data. The results show a strong positive correlation between seafarers' safety behaviour, safety attitude, safety motivation, and safety training. According to these results, improving safety training, encouraging a positive safety mentality, and inspiring seafarers to put safety first can all greatly increase safety behaviour and lower the probability of accidents in the marine sector. In order to foster a positive safety climate, the study contributes in the creation of efficient safety management plans and regulations. To sum up, establishing a thorough safety culture and ongoing safety training are crucial measures in improving seafarers' safety behaviour, establishing the groundwork for further study and the application of policies in the marine industry.
