Abstract
  • This conceptual study explores how Muslim leaders comprehend and apply Islamic leadership principles and how these principles influence their leadership practices and performance. The research focuses on Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) in Malaysia, employing an interpretivist epistemology and an inductive, qualitative approach. The methodology involves a phenomenological case study design with a cross-sectional timeframe. Data will be gathered through an extensive literature review, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions. Primary sources, such as the al-Quran, al-Sunnah, and other relevant texts, will inform the foundational understanding of Islamic leadership principles before data collection. Criterion sampling will be used, targeting 20 to 30 Muslim leaders in GLCs, with 3 to 5 participants selected from each of 5 to 10 companies via HR departments, referrals, and professional networks. Data analysis will employ thematic analysis, supported by open-ended surveys and an interview guide. This research aims to provide practical insights for organizational leaders and policymakers, especially in formulating policies and guidelines that incorporate Islamic values into leadership development programs and organizational culture.
