Abstract
  • This study delves into the practical implications of parametric design on contemporary architectural façades, highlighting its transition from a purely aesthetic tool to one that significantly enhances functionality. With the rise of digital technologies, parametric design has empowered architects to address complex challenges, including light, heat, air control, structural efficiency, and environmental sustainability. Through a comparative analysis of ten case studies, this research underscores the versatility of parametric tools in creating façades that enhance visual appeal and optimize building performance. The analysis identifies three key characteristics of parametric façades: the evolution from decorative to functionally driven designs, incorporating regional and cultural contexts, and developing innovative construction techniques that improve material efficiency and structural integrity. By exploring buildings of various scales and functions, from small pavilions to large stadiums, the study illustrates how parametric design has expanded architectural possibilities, offering practical solutions for environmentally friendly and culturally relevant architecture. The findings suggest that parametric design is not a passing trend but an evolving methodology that harmonizes aesthetics, functionality, and regional identity. Future research should concentrate on the economic and functional validation of parametric façades, ensuring these designs achieve their objectives in diverse environmental contexts.
